1. PLAB Test Guide

The Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB) Test is an assessment exam for overseas doctors or international medical graduates to pass to be able to practice medicine in the UK legally. Aspirants from outside the European Economic Area and Switzerland are required to clear this test.

PLAB Test consists of two parts.

PLAB Test Part 1

Part 1 is a Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) based exam consisting of 180 questions to be done within 3 hours where the candidate is required to choose the right option from the list of options given, provided each query for PLAB1 starts with a short scenario.

PLAB Test Part 2

Part 2 is a practical Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE). The candidate is required to attempt 16 scenarios each lasting for 8 minutes. A candidate is required to pass both parts as per the General Medical Council UK.

2. MRCP Examination Guide

MRCP Exam offers a globally recognised post-graduate medical qualification for doctors/physicians who wish to undergo higher specialist training with certified royal college consultants.
The MRCP Examination tests a candidate’s skills, knowledge and fitness to undergo specialized training. It involves three parts:

The MRCP Exam has two parts.

MRCP Exam Part 1 & 2

Part 1 and Part 2 are Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) based exams wherein the candidate is required to attempt 100 questions in each paper. The duration of each paper will be 3 hours.

MRCP Exam Part 3

Part 3 of the exam is a Clinical Examination (PACES) consisting of five clinical stations. Each station will be assessed by two independent examiners. A maximum duration of 20 minutes is provided for each station.

DENTAL TRAINING EXAMS

OVERSEAS REGISTRATION EXAM (ORE )

The Overseas Registration Examination (ORE) is intended for dentists whose qualifications are not recognized for registration in the UK. It is a two-part exam that evaluates the knowledge and skills of overseas-qualified dentists.

ORE Exam Has Two Parts

ORE Exam Part 1

This written exam assesses the candidate's understanding of clinical practice and dental science. It consists of two computer-based papers covering areas such as clinically applied dental science, human disease, clinical dentistry, law and ethics, and health and safety.

ORE Exam Part 2

This practical exam evaluates the candidate's clinical skills. It is held over several days and involves hands-on assessments.

Passing the ORE allows dentists to register and practice in the UK. The exam is conducted at King’s College London.

The Licence in Dental Surgery ( LDS )

The Licence in Dental Surgery (LDS) exam is a postgraduate qualification for dentists, awarded by the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS). It is designed to assess the clinical competence and knowledge of dental graduates.

The LDS Exam is Divided Into Three Parts:

LDS Exam Part 1

This is a written exam consisting of two papers with single best answer (SBA) questions. Candidates must pass both papers in a single sitting to move on to Part 2

LDS Exam Part 2

A practical exam held over two days, which includes an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) with 12 stations, as well as an 'unseen case' exam to assess clinical reasoning and treatment planning abilities.

LDS Exam Part 3

This part involves a Dental Manikin component, where candidates demonstrate their clinical skills on a dental manikin.

Those who pass the LDS exam are eligible to become members of the RCS and can apply for registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) in the UK.
